Wrinkle Relaxers
Wrinkle Relaxers
HOW DO NEUROTOXINS WORK?
Wrinkle relaxers temporarily relax the muscles of the face that contract and ultimately cause wrinkling. We make many expressions each day, and while this is a wonderful thing, these movements cause ‘active’ wrinkles or wrinkles secondary to movement.
Neurotoxins work by preventing the release of signals (acetylcholine) from the nerves to muscles. As a result, muscle contraction is inhibited, and our muscles from our facial expressions are given the freedom to relax and soften.
The most commonly injected areas include forehead lines, vertical lines between the eyes, “crow’s feet” around the eyes, sagging eyelids, chin dimples, axilla (axillary hyperhidrosis), and vertical lip lines. A tiny needle is used, which is barely noticeable during the treatment. No general anesthesia or stitches are needed, and no extended recovery time.
Results are typically evident several days after treatment and continue to improve over a week. Everyone responds differently to neurotoxins, so Dr. Frieling will thoroughly explain what you should expect. The effects of neurotoxins last 3-4 months.

Wrinkle Relaxer/Neuromodulator FAQs
Neuromodulators are prescription injections used to prevent signs of aging like wrinkles, folds in the skin, and fine lines from forming. While they do not stop you from expressing emotion, they temporarily prevent muscle movement-induced lines from forming.
Neuromodulators are injected into the treated areas with tiny needles, causing the muscles to slow down movement temporarily.
The neuromodulator takes several days to take effect, so don't worry if you don't see any improvement after a day of treatment.
The effects of neuromodulator or Dermal Fillers injections are temporary, but they can last up to six months. Results depend on the type given and your own body chemistry.
The typical duration of the effects is about 3-4 months.
Neuromodulators usually have minimal downtime. After your neuromodulator treatment, you might experience some redness and mild swelling. It would be best if you avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activities for 3-5 days after treatment.
