Clay, Bamboo, and Charcoal

Clay, Bamboo, And Charcoal | Gface MD | Wellesley

Wondering what the hype is around clay, bamboo, and charcoal in your skincare products? Clay, bamboo, and charcoal all contain many beneficial properties for your skin health. It is helpful to understand which ingredients in your skincare products will be helpful for your specific skin. We love to incorporate these ingredients into our skincare routines. These ingredients provide benefits to the skin without the risk of the harsh chemicals causing irritation and breakouts.

Clay can be a beneficial ingredient for overall skin health. Clay has the ability to absorb oil from your skin. The clay is used to clean the dirt and oil out of pores to prevent acne breakouts, pimples, and blackheads. There is not much risk of potential side effects when using a clay mask in your skincare routine. It is best to only use once or twice a week to prevent dryness and irritation.

Bamboo extracts can contain antioxidants for your skin. Antioxidants are used to fight free radicals from entering your skin and causing premature wrinkles. Bamboo is also filled with natural silica which is an essential mineral that promotes healthy skin and hair. As we get older, our body produces less and less silica. Without the production of silica, our body ages and forms wrinkles, loose skin, and fine lines. Along with the great anti-aging benefits, bamboo is also a healing agent. As a healing agent, bamboo can target dark spots, red spots, and inflamed skin. Bamboo provides many benefits without harsh chemicals and side effects.

Charcoal is considered one of the best natural pore cleansing ingredients in skincare. Overall, charcoal deeply removes toxins and impurities while also providing beneficial exfoliation resulting in smaller pore size and younger-looking skin. As you look through the ingredients in skincare products, you may notice charcoal powder or activated charcoal. Both of these versions of charcoal provide the same great benefits for skin health. In simplest terms, activated charcoal expands to work over a larger surface area whereas charcoal powder stays localized to where you apply it. Charcoal is another great skincare ingredient that doesn’t come with risk.

If you are overwhelmed with how to start incorporating these ingredients into your skincare routine, we suggest trying out some of our favorites! We love the Soyier Skin face masks. The Masque Exfoliant: Invisi-Pore Clay Exfoliating Masque, and the Masque Energétique: Energizing Turmeric Mineral Masque are the perfect place to start. The Masque Exfoliant is a deeply exfoliating and purifying mask that combines Charcoal, Bamboo and Clay with other nourishing ingredients to cleanse, detoxify, and brighten the skin. The Masque Energetique is an energizing and illuminating turmeric masque that invigorates the look of dull, tired and flat skin to restore a youthful and vibrant glow.
