Sunflower Seed Oil

Sunflower Seed Oil | Gface MD | Wellesley

Sunflower seed oil is non-comedogenic, highly absorbent, non-irritating, and free of chemicals and toxins. It is known for its healing and restorative effects for not only the skin but also the hair. Most sunflower seed oil comes from the Helianthus annuus plant that is native to North and South America. The oil is created by cold-press extraction and appears clear to yellow in color. 55%-70% of the sunflower seed oil is linoleic acid which is good for acne-prone skin. It is anti-bacterial and balances moisture concentration. 20%-25% of the sunflower seed oil is oleic acid which is good for nourishing dry skin and irritated skin because it penetrates into the skin and replenishes the moisture.

Sunflower seed oil in skincare leads to more resilient, hydrated, and healthy skin. It can act as an occlusive which forms a protective barrier on the skin. It helps your skin stay hydrated by preventing evaporation and transepidermal water loss. It nourishes your skin but does not clog your pores; actually, it can help de-clog your pores by clearing dead skin cells. It can be incredibly soothing, relieves redness, and reduces swelling.

It also contains vitamins A, C, D, and E which provide antioxidant properties. Vitamin E is absorbed easily into the skin and reduces photoaging and signs of UV damage. Sunflower oil is able to contain more vitamin D than any other vegetable oil. Vitamin D has healing, soothing, and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe conditions such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis. Vitamin A provides anti-aging benefits, generates new skin cells, and can be converted to retinol in the liver. Vitamin C helps to reduce redness and pigmentation while also increasing collagen production.

While we are on the sunflower seed oil topic, it can also provide great benefits to your hair. The gamma alpha-linoleic acid content helps prevent hair loss while adding shine, softening dry hair, and containing frizz. It can be used in many different ways, and you can massage the oil into your scalp once a week for soft, silky hair results. This oil can also act as a conditioner for the hair.

It can be found in many of our Soyier skincare products. It is most prominent in our facial oil and the body oil that people rave about. The Soyier Huile de Miel: Advanced Renewal Facial Oil is designed to strengthen, repair, and restore dry to mature skin types. This hydrating and renewing sunflower seed-based facial oil quenches parched and dry skin, while additionally infusing anti-aging and protective ingredients directly into the deeper skin layers.
