The Power of Chemical Peels

The Power of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are procedures that involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin that allows for exfoliation and removal of dead skin cells. This process of the skin exfoliators allows for the skin to use its natural regenerative abilities, leading to the growth of new, healthier skin cells. There are a variety of brands for chemical peels at different strengths and indicated different conditions. VI peels are offered as GFaceMD. They are gentle yet effective and medical-grade chemical peels used to treat:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sunspots and hyperpigmentation
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Melasma (a skin condition causing brown or gray patches)

Vi peels are consistent of a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients that include:

  • TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid): This acid exfoliates the outer layers of the skin and stimulates collagen production, promoting skin rejuvenation.
  • Retinoic Acid: A derivative of vitamin A, retinoic acid aids in exfoliation, reduces fine lines and enhances the overall effectiveness of the peel.
  • Phenol: An ingredient that penetrates the skin more deeply, addressing more severe skin concerns.

What to expect after a Chemical peel?

Following aftercare instructions by your skincare professional or health care professional. They know your skin best and will give you personalized advice based on the type of peel you receive and your specific skin concerns. Avoid Sun Exposure after a chemical peel. Your skin is more vulnerable to the sun’s harmful UV rays. Stay out of direct sunlight and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Keep your skin hydrated by applying a gentle hydrating moisturizer and drinking plenty of water. Hydration supports the skin’s healing process and helps maintain its moisture balance look for products with nourishing ingredients like aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, or ceramides. Using a gentle cleanser with a mild, non-abrasive soothing formula would be the best choice. Avoid picking or peeling: Resist the temptation to pick or peel any flaking skin. Let it slough off naturally, as picking can lead to scarring or other complications. Patience is key, be patient with your skin’s healing process. It’s normal to experience some redness, mild swelling, or flaking after a chemical peel. These effects are temporary and a part of the rejuvenation journey. Avoid harsh skin care products, retinoids, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) immediately after a peel, as they may cause irritation.
