What is Clear + Brilliant?
Clear + Brilliant, also known as “mini-Fraxel,” is a fractional laser which emits varying amounts of energy across your skin. This causes vibrations which signals cells to increase turn-over and produce collagen. This results in improved skin texture and tone, and diminished appearance of scars and fine line.
OK, I’m on-board! Is there any down-time?
Unlike other lasers, Clear + Brilliant has no down-time or peeling. You leave your treatment session feeling sun-burnt and a little rosy which typically fades within an hour of treatment. Over the next few days, your skin will be dry and feel like sand-paper. During this time, your skin will soak up serums, topical vitamins, and moisturizes so apply liberally. Once the rough-patch subsides (no pun intended), your skin will look brighter and more radiant.
But does it hurt?
Clients report mild discomfort, like your skin is being zapped or pricked followed by a “sun-burn” sensation. This typically subsides within an hour of treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
You will notice a subtle improvement in your skin tone/texture after one session. For optimal results, Clear + Brilliant should be performed monthly for at least three treatments. However, it should be incorporated into your skin maintenance routine like dermaplaning, micro-needling, and chemical peels.
Are there any risks?
Rarely, the laser can cause acne to flare. If you have a history of cold sores the laser could trigger an outbreak. Therefore, we recommended scheduling your treatment session two weeks before any major event and take a prophylactic anti-viral if you are prone to cold sores.
Do I need to avoid the sun?
As always, we recommend being diligent about sun protection. This means applying sunscreen throughout the day and wearing a hat while outside. If you are going on a beach vacation best to wait until after your trip to schedule a session.
